What are your favorite colours?
Do you have a favorite colour, or favorite series of colours? Someone asked me what some of my favorite colours were today and it made me smile. Here they are:
Teal, Aqua, Gold, White, Expresso and Raspberry Red. Yes, The Raspberry Red is missing from this Degas, but that's ok. I imagine these girls have raspberry red lips and that will do.
I'm a big fan of colour in the home. Inspiration can come from anywhere: a painting, your favorite jewellery set, a holiday photograph, a pet (seriously, some cats and dogs have beautiful colour combos) and last but not least - Mother Nature. There are even some cool websites that take photos and profile their colour pallets: Design Seeds or Photo Card Boutique. Fun to browse.
There's a TV show our daughter loves about a sister and brother called Stella and Sam. In one episode 4 year old Sam asks his older sister Stella why the sky is so colourful...she tells him a story about the Sky Painter. The Sky Painter is fairy like woman who paints the sky beautiful colours. Isn't that sweet?
You can find inspiration everywhere and anywhere. I once asked my gorgeous hairstylist cousin what colours I should be wearing. She said we are attracted to colours that suit us. And I sighed a sigh of relief. Of course.
The colours we are attracted to can also make us happy when we look at them. Fill your home and your heart up with these colours. Forget the latest trends, what your neighbour has in their house or what you may see in magazines for a while and colour outside the lines. Why not?

How To: Braided Bun
I love the idea of a messy up do when it comes to hair. Since it's a hot look right now, why not experiment with your own hair? If it turns out great you may get asked where you get your hair done, in which you can reply, "Ohhh (pause) this old thing??? I did it myself." GEnIUs (said in a singing voice!).
Get the how to, along with other good ones, from here.

My hair isn't this long but...I could manage the side braid with a side bun - still cute!

Will Kate Middleton wear a fascinator on her head for her wedding? If she comes down the aisle w/ her face veiled I may be disappointed...hmmm...we'll have to wait to find out!

Get yer hair did...
We Can Do IT....We Can Make Some Time To Take Care Of How We Look (even while sporting a t-shirt with kiddie snot/yellow pit stains - I'll get another white t-shirt soon, just not today...) If It's Going To Make Us Feel Better About Ourselves.
I don't think I'm a superficial person...but...it sure does feel good to reap the benefits of a long overdue (6 months) haircut and colour. I was meaning to do it forever, but kept putting it last on the list of things to do - last and fast don't rhyme, I guess that's why it took me 6 months to do it...that and I was feeling really badly about how I looked & was tired of looking & feeling blah every time I looked in the mirror.
After less than 2 hours at the salon (side note: I can't sit in a hairstylists chair for more than 2 hours without getting antsy and annoyed)...my hair had shape again and P.S. who knew a little bit of colour would make me feel so much better about myself, not to mention younger/at least acceptable for my age.
Like soaking wilted veggies in a bowl of ice cold water (this works by the way) I'm now refreshed and more optimistic. It's just what I needed after a lOnG winter. If you're feeling like a Soggy Sac of Suck then stop whatever you are doing and make your gorgeous self an appointment - pronto - at the salon. And P.S.S. If you like your hairstylist but feel you're not getting the results you want/ask for it's time to CUT THE SPLIT END and find a new stylist. I'm serious....even if she's your sister-in-law/friend-ish. It's nothing personal... how you feel about yourself is really important. Your hair is the ultimate Go-Along accessory - it deserves some attention (yes, I know better...now).
All I'm trying to say istake make some time to get yer hair did if your hair needs didding. A little bit of snip goes a long way...at least that's what the guy I worked with implied after telling me at least 5x that my hair looked so much better, soooo much better, I mean sooooooo much better (ok...I get it!).

THE best body scrub I hardly bought...
That's right. I have news. The best body scrub I hardly bought is the 3/4 cup of white sugar I polished my face and entire body with in the shower after reading the tip in Carmidy's book Crazy Busy Beautiful. Carmindy appears on the TV show I made my family promise never to nominate me for (although I could use the $5000 towards a new wardrobe!!!) What Not To Wear. (Oh, P.S. I bought the book at Superstore for 25% off the cover price, I'm just saying)
Carmindy's book is filled with easy-peasie beauty tips including my new favorite: using plain white sugar from your pantry as a body scrub. Mix it with your body wash or take a handful and go to town on your legs, it's all good. I especially liked using a tiny bit of it on a facecloth and exfoliating my lips. Honestly, I'm not sure why I was so surprised it worked so well! So listen, I've put a bunch in a airtight tupperware and tossed it in the bathroom closet.
Why I like it so much:

Why I like it so much:
- It doesn't irritate my sensitive skin
- There are no other/added chemicals
- I'll always have it on hand
- It's cheap
- It washes off easily and doesn't leave any gross or sticky residue
- It doesn't turn rancid (like the oversize 3 Minute Miracle I spent way too much money for years ago and ended up making my hands burn - gross!)
All I would suggest is lathering on the moisturizer after you're done - and VOILA - you're done :)

Bee House Tea Pots
I think I'll start a wish list and the first item I'll place on it will be the Bee House Tea Pot 48 oz, Colour: Orange. It's a loose leaf tea pot with a removable strainer. You can fill the tea pot with water and microwave it (!)
It would go perfectly with the ambitious mint plants in our backyard = bff's (best friends forever). First seen on Bonzai Aphrodite...sigh, inspiring.

We Dream In Colour
A year ago I stumbled across Jade Gedeon's jewellery collection We Dream In Colour. I loved it. It was the original inspiration for this blog, her work is just that beautiful to me. I mean, copper jewellery meant to patina?! Be still my beating heart. From here.
